Four hours in a bivvy bag

After a long break, I decided to offer my services as a body again. Not for medical science or any other purpose that you might be sniggling at, but for the Lake District Search & Rescue Dogs Association.

After meeting in the ODG car park in Langdale, we all trogged up Mickleden. Our group for graded dogs went way up to the sheepfold at the end (I was volunteered to hide on top of a rocky knoll, sort of under the crags of Bowfell). I spent 4 hours in the rain snug in a bivvy bag awaiting rescue. After about 2 hours I looked out to see my position completely enveloped in cloud.

Luckily the weather cleared and I was able to poke my head out into sunshine. Shortly after I was found by Mac. Elly’s dog had sniffed me out (no comments please) along with three other bodies hiding on the hillside.

A few soft drinks in beer garden with beautiful weather finished off a fine but sometimes damp day.

Any volunteers to body? It’s a good way of topping up some sleep reserves and gets you out into the fresh air.

Sorry no pics. I thought you could all imagine the inside of a bivvy bag!
