Lac Bleu and Aiguille du Midi

After the success of the short walk yesterday I decided it was time for my parents to experience more Alpinism. The weather was better and there were less clouds, so we took the lift up to Plan de l’Aiguille with the intention of strolling over to Lac Bleu for a picnic.
There was more snow than we expected, but that didn’t stop the adventure. We took it easy and made steady progress. When we finally arrived there was a very noisy French group who were learning snow and ice techniques. They had all the gear, but didn’t actually know how to use it. I’m sure there was a leader there somewhere, I just couldn’t see him or her.
After a quick bite, we carefully made our way back and then took the lift up to the Aiguille du Midi for the fine views. Unfortunately Mont Blanc was covered in cloud, but we had a good view of climbers making their way up the ridge.

Back in the valley we indulged in tea and cakes, of course!
