Weather Forecast Wrong (again)!

windermere.jpg

The BBC weather forecasters had said it would rain heavily on Sunday, but as seems usual they got it wrong for Cumbria. Instead what they meant was it would rain in London and that the band of rain would have passed through Cumbria the night before… And did it rain last night!

At least the result was a glorious day in the Lakes. Climbing on sunny crags would certainly have been possible. I looked across longingly at Pavey Ark and thought how nice it would have been to be up there. But with my busted tendon (or pulley or something) in one of my fingers that was out of the question. A walk however wasn’t. Laetitia and I enjoyed a good bumble from Ambleside up Scandale Fell, a quiet and little visited area.

Phew, walking is hard work – I was well out of breath at the top and my legs were feeling the strain back at the car in Ambleside. Maybe climbing all the time isn’t as good for our fitness? Whatever, the views were amazing (the picture is looking back over Ambleside to Lake Windermere, and we could just see Morecambe Bay).
