To finish off our few days away, on New Year’s day we headed for Meall nan Tarmachan, our third and last Munro of this short break, taking in the lovely horseshoe walk taking in the Tarmachan Ridge.

Again the weather was superb and we needed axes and crampons (at last!)

  1. Well, fuel seems to be getting cheaper by the day! So that’s one obstacle out of the way…

Hmm, eight so far huh. Good. Maybe this challenge is the one to slow you down a bit. Savour those hills Dave, once they’re completed you’ll have to find another challenge all too soon – as you know from blitzing the Wainwrights. The size and distances involved should keep you entertained for ages! Which, by the way, is exactly why I know I have no chance what-so-ever of doing them, it’s far too much effort!

  2. Pete, yep eight in total 😮

Yes, there are 2 two Ptarmigan. Pippa spotted them first though and watched as they wandered around (presumably looking for food). ❓

My other new challenge that is ongoing are the Marilyns. Yes, there are over 1500 of them 😯 in Great Britain. Check this out….. http://bubl.ac.uk/org/tacit/marilyns/ which should keep me going into my old age 😆

    1. Bloody hell Dave – 1542 hills to tick! You are quite mad. 😯

So, how many have you done so far? You must have quite a few of the Welsh, all of the Lakeland ones and eight of the Scottish ones right? Plus maybe some others around the country too?

By-the-way, did I say you are mad! 😉 But I’m looking forward to your progress through them (so long as I live long enough)…

Also, you may have noticed that I just put your recent Munroing efforts into a Series called “Munros”. Would you prefer it was called “Marilyns”?
