Cake Preparations

With the weather typically wet and windy I decided it was a good time to pull out the Kenwood mixer and get it ready for cake making. Hopefully I’m up for 3 particularly important cakes this winter, with 2 birthdays included, so I had a look at the mixer. Last time we used it the foot had sheared off, causing the machine to flap about a bit. So it was time to re-glue……………

Broken foot
the foot

This is a lot harder than you might think; there was no glue in the house.

With a foot like this a thorough clean was neccessary and the sticky material of choice had to be pretty serious. Using prit stick or PVA glue wasn’t really enough and causes too much never-drying stickyness, giving a weak bond, so it was out with the duct tape………

So I placed it on with two fingers. I also took the precaution of ensuring that the foot was placed correctly.

Following an upturning (no irons were used in this procedure), I’m ready for the first cakes of the season.

  1. I just wish all women took their kitchen duties so seriously!! 😆 😆

Can’t wait to see the finished products :yum: :yum: :yum:
    But no blowtorch used??

In the first picure is that a lettuce on your shed bench???

  2. Don’t wait too long to start on your Christmas cakes! Our next door neighbour has been steeping fruit in alcohol for ours for ages 🙂

And yes, she will be doing the assembly and baking of it too 🙂 🙂

    1. I’m afraid Christmas cake is the only cake that I can’t stand. Thankfully chocolate cake doesn’t have to be marinated at all and can be made in minutes when required. 😆

    1. I can now report that the cake was of thoroughly excellent quality; all the preparations were well worthwhile! :yum:
It’s lucky Ian’s thinking ahead to winter skiing motivated Rachel so effectively. :good:

I just hope that Ian’s ski preparations can reciprocate the replication and deliver the same level of success…
