2010 Rendezvous; Locations & Activities?

questionsLast year we held the first rendezvous for authors of articles posted on this blog. For many it was the first chance to meet, in person, the people they only knew from cyberspace [sic].

The weekend of climbing, caving, BBQ’ing, and celebrating (complete with freebie Lucozade) was great fun – and so thoughts have moved on to the next rendezvous. But where to go? What to do? Some ideas have already been mooted in comments elsewhere (here). I promised a poll to gather, in a democratic way (that should make Ian happy 😆 ), people’s preferences for the second author rendezvous. The only thing that is promised to be undemocratic is what Laetitia will do for prizes! 😀

First, where to hold the rendezvous. Obviously this choice may affect what we can actually do. Choose wisely. 😉

Rendezvous Locations?

  • Other (please outline in comments) (25%, 2 Votes)
  • Derbyshire (13%, 1 Votes)
  • Yorkshire Dales (13%, 1 Votes)
  • South Wales (0%, 0 Votes)
  • Snowdonia (0%, 0 Votes)
  • Chamonix (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 8

Next, what to do. This question allows five choices! 😯 Please try to consider what activities are feasible in the locations you have suggested above.

Last, when…

Remember, use the comments below to debate and suggest other options. Perhaps, have the debate before you vote… Someone might have a killer idea that changes what you might have otherwise voted for.

  1. To me this just looks like a cynical attempt to create lots of comments thus generating high activity levels. It’s clearly a way for Pete to win one of the prizes 😈

  2. Pete deserves a prize :star: for the fair and democratic poll he has created.
I’ve made my choices without any discusion so as not to be swayed by other peoples ideas…… if they vote to do something other than whisky tasting and a tour of the Derbyshire cakeshops :yum: :yum: , then I’m simply not going! 😉 . (I didn’t see freefall on the list?????)

    1. Ah yes, Mountain Marathon… I might have to stay in the support team if that were to go ahead (although I would like to one day do the TMB – but that is perhaps better considered in retrospect).

          1. The truth is slowly emerging from the murk. Mountain biking votes are suffering from an apparent bug; so where is the conspiracy? As usual in these sort of situations misdirection is being used by the conspirator (or conspirators ❓ ). If we ignore the mountain bike vote misdirection and look at the other panel we will see the true aim of the hidden plan. The location vote is going in favour of THE LAKES and this despite the number of votes for caving/potholing. Are we to believe that people who are voting for a limestone dependant activity are also voting to hold the event near Pete and Tish’s house… ❓

            The truth will out ❗

    1. Good spot Paul – have corrected the typo. :zip:

For the record, I don’t censor any comments, ever, anything goes so long as it’s not offensive. That is except for spam! And that’s easy ‘cos the blog’s software filters all the spam automatically. Although the site does get several hundred spam comments everyday… 🙁
