While the cats away…

So while the Sterlings and friends are wandering around the Alps on planks, some of us have been taking advantage of the jolly pleasent weather we’ve been having of late.

Okay, truth be known, it was baking, so Howard, Sarah and I headed high and struggled up to Pavey Ark – as did everyone else as it turned out! Nice to see the crags busy again I suppose.

Managed a couple of cracking little routes, Arcturus and Capella for those in the know, both undertaken in a suitably relaxed style befitting of the day.

Aside from the climbing, entertainment was provided by the occasional walker tempted in to Stickle Tarn for a dip, only to realise to their horror that it was actually a bit on the nippy side. Other people’s misfortune is always a giggle!

So, full of the joys and having caught a bit too much sun, we turned tail and headed down, with a spring in our step. Right up to the point Sarah let out the most shrill of screams. Yes, you know the ones – the ones where someone has clearly goosed themselves.

Other people’s misfortunate now not quite so funny.

I’m happy to report that no serious damage was done, just a bad sprain and some excellent looking swelling. Apparently the bruise is quite cool too. That’ll slow her down on those hills for a bit!

What was it Whymper said? “To every step…”.
