Last night I managed to rescue some pics I took on a mate’s camera from a trip across Beinn Eighe in April…

Wow – fantastic.

The first and penultimate pictures show the triple buttress. There is a classic hard severe right up the middle of the central buttress. The rock changes from sandstone to limestone half way up at the inflexion. I will dig out some pictures of my ascent in 19??
Also, there is a wrecked Lincoln bomber at the top of the right hand gully, missed the top by 12ft in 1952.
All the way down is wreckage, including a Merlin engine which was virtually intact. I have a picture of it, showing engine number, which I keep meaning to send to Rolls Royce.
Wow, all excited now, wanna go climb it and do some modern archeology… Maybe there’s some treasure too?

Hey Colin, I’ve dug out that old photo of the Lincoln bomber crash in 1952.
You see attached a picture of what I assume to be a Rolls Royce Merlin 102 engine
I found it way down the hillside from the crash-site. You can even just make out part of the engine number.
Do you think I should submit it to RR? Do you think they would be interested?
