A busy day in the Lake District….

I’m on holiday and trying to make the most of it and also trying to keep in ‘tip top’ fitness. So a trip around the Langdales was in order.

My first stop was Black Crag, a great spot with a superb view point. A nice gentle walk to start the day. Black Crag is the ‘lump’ south of Skelwith Bridge (there is also a good bridleway nearby for those keen cyclists).

Then it was on to Lingmoor which is situated between Little Langdale and Great Langdale, which also provided some great views, this time of the Langdale Pikes

But Lingmoor summit is not that spectacular.

I was feeling a little tired now as I’d climbed 2 hills in rapid succession but only climbed about 500 m.

It was now on to Blea Rigg via Stickle Ghyll, a fairly indistinct lump, but with a few compass bearings and close reference to the map I confirmed I was at the right location.

Pippa was getting a little tired as you can see from the photo and clip below.

So it was back to the car and off to Loughrigg. I popped into Chapel Stile to top up on sandwiches, chocolate and some lovely lakeland full cream milk.

Unfortunately it started to rain, so a hasty ascent and descent (as usual) was made.

I was tired now. Having climbed four Wainwrights, 1100 m of ascent and started each Wainwright from a different location – I must be mad.

But – it was a good day.
