We arrived in Australia and had the privilege to stop at Terry’s son’s place in Sydney before we headed West and got stuck into Aussie rock at the Blue Mountains.

Welcome to Sydney
Our first day was at Mount Piddington. Rough sandstone, a bit like the Roaches, but thirty times higher – any Yorkshireman would wet himself with excitement. He arrives next week, I hope he’s got his nappies!

The second day was at Sublime Point and the multi pitch classic route Sweet Dreams. The main traverse pitch was easy but spectacular!

We took two lines to finish the route; Ian, Anna, Terry & Vikki took the classic line and Pete & Laetitia took the slightly more direct line to the left.
After completing the route we headed back Katoomba and satisfied our cake addiction. But Ian & Anna decided to just have a drink…

All for me?

Hi Guys,
Good to see you’re enjoying yourselves – looks great (the eclair that is!).
The strangest thing has happened since you’ve left. The weather’s gone bonkers. In the valleys, it’s warm and sunny and all the crags have dried out – it’s like late spring. Up on the tops, it’s got really cold and all the high crags have got perfect water ice pouring down them!
It’s amazing. It’s a shame you’re over in Oz and missing out…
Aye but its not Almscliffe
Bad news cats I’ve broken my wrist
You’re joking! How did you manage that?!
Fortunately, you’re strong enough to out crank them with one hand anyway… and it gets you off belay duty!
