Yeep, Bernie has already contacted Andy about the smoke test  Not sure which end we want to put the smoke bomb though; I think the draught was coming into Gwyn Saunders Hall on the day but... Where the draft was we were only about 10 m above the water level (guess).

Hi Colin,

Had a look at Red Chamber, this is high (30ft above Cauldron Chamber) and the passage that is nearest the Battle of Britain Series is trending upwards. Also there is a small stream that enters Red Chamber, this discharges in the showcave, so there looks like no possible connection there. Bernie has a theory as to where it may head towards, and will probably talk to you about a smoke test to try and verify this.

The connection looks good on the survey (plan) but we have no spot heights for the two end points so it isn't possible to say how close they are; unless you have that data?

Ashford was away last weekend so we haven't had a chance to chat with him about our findings yet. Time will tell :geek:

Very interesting Colin, Red Chamber that leads off from Cauldron Chamber in the showcave ends very close to the end of Gwyn Saunders Hall where you found the draft. This may offer a dry route into the Battle of Britain series.

Has Ashford asked you to go back in with shovels to remove the sand banks and return the hydrology back to normal yet?

Thanks. The praise for the photos goes to Andrew who managed to get something usable despite the steam created by the evaporation from our wetsuits.

We didn't see any rain. A bit miserable today but Saturday was clear. Our main concern was with the rising temperatures.

I thought we had all been wimps this w/e; great photos Colin, and another great report, but I can't imagine what makes you go down there. It looks horrendous   ( I hate dark confined places and water, so maybe caving is not for me!) You could have got just as wet this weekend going for a walk.
