DII goes way beyond neat and the idea of compromising the look so that things work is completely against the core principle of the form.

In the picture the gap above my hood is off centre, my mask glass is not tinted to match the colour of my demand valve second stage and there are no visible labels. To fully follow the DII form I would have to take a second mask; not because the first might fail but because my other second stage is a different colour and therefore needs a different matching tint. Clip on fold down tinted over-glasses are not DII.

I find that things that look good (i.e. neat) often work better, esp. in extremis when you need stuff to be in just the right place - quick! ;-)

Doing It Italian. The basic principle is that it must look good, whether or not it works is secondary as long as sartorial elegance is maintained at all times. I am not finding it an easy skill to learn  .

Good point Pete, my hood is a little off centre. Clearly a mirror is needed if I am going to achieve the high standards required if I am to become a fully DII compliant diver.
