On Thursday evening, Anna and I joined Sabiene and the rest of the AW Thursday night group for a boggy trip up Ullscarf.
We left from the west , of Thirlmere, the Dobb gill car park and made our way up a good track up to Harrop Tarn. From here the track was a bit steeper, less distinct and a lot wetter underfoot. My lightweight summer boots aren’t waterproof and I was soon sloshing around as much as last Sunday.
We soon had a good view across to Blea tarn and made our way up the ridge to the top of Ullscarf.

We came down towards Nab crags which entailed a bit of winding around steep drops:

There was an obvious rainstorm over Blencathra and it was heading our way, so we picked the pace up and headed for the Thirlspot where we met our friends Ricard and Mary for a well deserved pint (or two)

Wow – look at that rain in the last picture! I think I might have encountered that too … I was on the M74 on my way home from work in Edinburgh when, near Cumbria and the start of the M6, I met a massive thunder storm! The rain was something else. As you might say Ian, “there was a guy on a small hill that I passed building a large boat”…
I took all the above photos! Does that mean I get the blog point for statistical purposes??
