The Malvern 300’s

Richard had suggested doing the Welsh 3000’s this weekend, but given that we were busy on Friday night and that we are running a mountain marathon next weekend, we decided to go easy on the running and settle for a run over the nicely undulating Malvern Hills. We parked the car at the north end of the Malvern Hills just below Worcester Beacon and after packing our bags with cereal bars and water we headed off to the top of North Hill. We made our way south along the ridge visiting the summit of Worcester Beacon, Summer Hill, Perserverance Hill, Jubilee Hill, Black Hill, Herefordshire Beacon, Millenium Hill, Hangman’s Hill, Swinyard Hill, Midsummer Hill and finally the Obelisk on top of the hill in Eastnor Deer Park. It was rather warm, so I convinced Richard that we should run all the way to the bottom of the hill at Eastnor to fill our water bottles at the campsite; I’m glad we did. After, we turned around and ran back up to the Obelisk, then up to British Camp (Herefordshire Beacon) and then we contoured along the ridge, swopping sides occasionally until we got back to Worcestershire Beacon. From here we detoured up End Hill, as we had missed this out at the beginning, and then descended to the car. A nice 18.5 mile run. 🙂

  1. Rachel should also have said we were planning to go caving on sunday on the Gower, so driving up to Snowdonia saturday for the Welsh 3000s, then going all the way to the other end of Wales on sunday wasn’t at all appealing.
