The Jet Ski is a simple concept – an engine, some handlebars, and a lot of fun. But as with anything mechanical, it needs to be looked after correctly. Jet skiing is a rewarding and exhilarating hobby, but there are a few things that you need to bear in mind before and after you purchase your jet ski.
Towergate Insurance, the jet ski insurance experts, have enlisted the help of 4 times World Runabout Champion, James Bushell to produce a series of short video guides, in a bid to ensure jet ski owners and their machines and trailers are properly prepared for a season on the water.
The Essential Guide to Jet-Skiing with James Bushell: Part One
In part one, James discusses what to consider when buying a jet ski, equipment and things to bear in mind when taking to the water.
The Essential Guide to Jet-Skiing with James Bushell: Part Two

Perhaps you could also point out to potential jet skiers how to operate one without endangering others and while obeying the rules of navigation.
Having been scuba diving while a pair of jet skiers thought it would be fun to slalom around our floating dive flags, among other experiences, the impression I get is that most jetskiers are ignorant, dangerous, and occasionally sober. The world would be a better place without them.
I once heard a Canadian radio comedian suggest that the jetski championships should be held starting on Lake Erie and ending on Lake Ontario (with, of course, Niagara Falls in the middle). He went on to suggest that anyone who allowed jet skiers to launch from their property could follow the same course in a barrel.
I’m right with him.
