I use Twitter a little (just last week I got myself hooked in to the Cumbrian broadband debate thanks to a few Tweets with my MP, Tim Farron). However, I don’t use Flickr that much (what use do others have for Flickr?).
That all said, I stumbled upon (thanks to Twitter) this picture of European detail map of Flickr and Twitter locations and my immediate impression was “wow”, and “pretty”, so I thought I’d share my discovery. There is a whole series of pictures of regions of the world, all part of Eric Fischer’s “see something or say something” project, I just picked out the one of Europe – even Cumbria gets quite well lit up.
Red dots are locations of Flickr pictures. Blue dots are locations of Twitter tweets. White dots are locations that have been posted to both.

That’s quite fascinating – I bet there’s a very strong correlation between this & population centres – which, if true, makes your comment about Cumbria interesting – with a small population, there must be an awful lot of nattering going on!
