What else can you do on a cold, damp miserable Friday? Too cold to climb, too miserable to walk. Fortunately, Bernie and Terry live only about 30 minutes drive from Darwen Moor – good mountain biking around there.
So it was a mountain biking day, up to Darwen Jubilee Tower, built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
Quite a feeling of remoteness up there – you’d never guess that the towns of Darwen and Blackburn are just below.
Bernie enjoys his coffee, before a super downhill descent all the way back to car.

yes, the cup only contained coffee. But we were both happy that we had extracted a good day out poor potential – and this is a reccuringl theme throughout many of the blogs featured here

Hiked to the top of Grotto Mountain yesterday. A serious leg hardening experience — 1500 m of vertical in 5:20 (car to car); I’ll be walking down stairs backwards for a few days!!
