Just our luck, mid-week saw all-time record low temperatures for December in Las Vegas! Tuesday it was 18°C and overnight saw Wednesday’s temperature plummet to -2°C. We’ve been ice climbing in warmer temperatures than this!

After spending a week at home feeling very sorry for myself and full of flu, I decided I was no longer contagious and managed to drag myself out of the house and on to a plane. We were off to Las Vegas.

What a lovely sunny late autumn day today was: clear, super sunny, and calm – a dingle day! It would have been a fantastic day for rock climbing on a warm south facing crag. I hope others took advantage?

Having rappelled this route (Johnny Vegas) on the decent from Solar Slab, albeit in the dark (see Tibor’s video post), we thought it looked interesting so returned to climb it later in the trip.
