Hey Dalma, I’m glad your back on the rock! Looks like Durstein is a great, and sunny, place to get reacquainted with the moves… Plus I can see grape vines in those pictures, does that mean there’s loads of yummy new-wine to enjoy? We got quite happy on that stuff in the Pfalz a few years back!

So you can team up with Rachel and come to Hungary for the annual Lake Balaton cross swimming on July 6! You swim 5.2 K from the Northern bank to the Southern one. The water may be too hot for you though as it’s usually 22-24 C at that time of the year, or even warmer!

Pufferfish are definitely to be avoided (unless in Japan, and then only when cooked by very experienced chefs)- the Burrfish is just best not stepped on, apparently!

One night away at my parents in Derby and I come home to find all 12 courgette seeds have germinated and are already 3cm long. How did that happen? Nature is quite amazing.

The workshop was on reinforcement learning and planning. They have one every year, but this is the first time I’ve ever been invited. McGill University in Montreal, Canada have a field research station there which gets used for all sorts of workshops organised by McGill staff.

I should point out that I had to share a room with two other people, there was no air conditioning except in the lecture room, and between the large cockroaches, frogs singing all night, and mosquitoes, it certainly wasn’t a typical conference venue!

Still, I hope they invite me again next year!

Burrfish are related to puffer-fish, so I think they inflate if threatened, rather than having poisonous spines.

I’ve planted loads of potatoes this year.
And still have the garlic on the ground which I planted last spring.
Also hoping to grow some huge courgette plants, but as the seeds haven’t germinated yet I think that’a not very likely.

Well maybe. It certainly deals with the grass cutting. But, here’s the rub, vegetables bought from the super market are cheaper than homegrown, easier to produce, and often better (especially with the crap growing weather we so often endure in Cumbria).
