BBC go filming

Dave was volunteered by work (yes, it was a jolly) to stand by Long Churn Cave, to help a film crew in a helicopter locate Upper Long Churn cave for the forthcoming BBC series on caving with Kate Humble and some other guy.

Given the awful (changeable) weather this week the crew of the helicopter decided just to go for it. I had been put off every day this week. So now it was time to whizz up Dentdale, past Ribblehead, pay my 50p to the farm and park in the layby with hundreds of wet and cold outdoor centre kids. Luckily they were all heading home, so i had the entrance all to myself.

Unfortunately the film crew didn’t want me in shot 🙁

Nevertheless, they took some film. Set down and said hello and complained about the rain on the camera lens and then went on their merry way.

Whether they actually use any of it we won’t know until the series is shown which I’m reliably informed will be July along with a series on Climbing. Watch this space for updates
