Llygad Llwchwr 1 is a well visited cave and it was through a sump in that cave, that Llygad Llwchwr 2 was discovered by Martyn Farr and others in 2001. It wasn’t until last year however that some terrestrial humans dug into the cave providing access to non-divers like us. LL 2 is very well decorated compared to it’s sister LL1, which has been trampled beyond belief. It was therefore an obvious choice for a caving and photography trip.
LL2 really isn’t that long, but it is so beautifully decorated that we spent a good few hours admiring the formations and picturing them. Take a look at some of the views below (courtesy of our very own photographer, Brendan Marris):
After exiting Llygad Llwchwr 2, we were far too dry and so we headed into Llygad Llwchwr 1 for some sporty caving and watersports. It is a very fun cave…. and made all the more amusing when full of Wessex Cave Club members!
Again we went caving, but this time to carry ladders into Darren Cilau via Price’s Dig. Pretty hard work!
