Chamonix

Alpine adventures – climbing, skiing, mountaineering, etc. near Chamonix Mont-Blanc. The rightly-so self declared world capital of Alpinism! All year, but it rains a fair bit during the summer. We loved the classic rock route Chappele de Glier. We’ve tried flying (plus hire car) and the car all the way from home to get there.

English Lake District

Lakeland adventures; rock, ice, mountain biking, etc. Biased I know, but the English Lake District is the best place to be in the whole wide world! Well, maybe not the best, but it is certainly up there amongst the best. 😉 Being based in the Lakes obviously a lot of the reports on this blog

With amazing rock climbing like the Pause (above) on the Etive Slabs and the UK’s most reliable, almost alpine, winter venue – the north face of Ben Nevis (below) the western Scottish highlands are unbeatable. The only caveats, midges in summer and poor weather in winter. 😉
