Raven Crag, Langdale

Ian and I met up in Chapel Stile with plan A being a trip to Gimmer – the weather in the morning had been wall to wall blue skies. But no, not for us, as I drove down the Langdale road it was raining! But we soldiered on and changed to plan B, Raven Crag…

Ian hadn’t done Pluto, the classic HVS of the crag, before so that was our first objective. When I’d done this rote in the past I must have missed the top pitch (or had memory failure since), as it isn’t just the awesome traverse of pitch two that makes the route a classic, the top pitch is fantastic!

We grabbed an ascent of Holy Tree Direct too before the obligatory pint in the ODG. The folk in the pub garden must have thought we were crazy checking out the dozens of photos we’d both taken trying to get that perfect shot (the wonders of digital cameras; instant gratification, instant pictures, no developing).

All in all a great Friday evening. Lets hope the weather holds for the weekend…
