On the Bank Holiday weekend we (Anna, Sarah, Jon, Andy & Sabiene) went to Scotland hoping to find fine weather for a change – in accordance with the forecast. This was meant to be birthday treat for Sarah and me. We wild camped in Glen Etive, setting up our tents in the pitch dark and rain. Definitely no camp fire sing song. It rained every time I woke up during the night. It was raining when I got up in the morning.
Sarah fried bacon in the back of the car (heroine!) then we went to the Glencoe visitor centre for a weather forecast.  Cr*p again, so we went home.
As you know from a previous blog entry, we had another mass birthday celebration dinner at the Old Crown the following weekend.
However, Andy & Sabiene would not let us miss out on a birthday treat. One dinner was not enough for these social animals. They very generously gave Sarah and me each a pair of tickets for dinner and films at Rheged and we all went along this week. If you have not seen “Set in Stone” it is a must for climbers and Lake District lovers alike. “Twice Upon a Time in Bolivia” was new to me and most enjoyable. As for “Storms of Silence”, I had forgotten lots of these original gems and laughed out loud. Many thanks again, A&S.
