The real Williamson’s Monument… at last

We came home from North Wales last night. The forecast wasn’t great, so we decided that not so great weather at home was better than not so great weather in Wales. Very tired, we didn’t get out of bed until close to 10am, and the clouds looked heavy, so we felt uninspired to climb. After a few essential household chores we decided to go for a bike ride up the Kentmere valley.

This time we took the map and decided to check out Williamson’s monument – the real one this time. It’s far more impressive than the pile of stones we saw when we tried to find it last time.

We finished the ride by going up the Garburn pass from Kentmere Hall and taking the track down into Ings. It’s steep and treacherous, but I was pleased because the last time we did this I had to get off the bike at the very technical down hill bits. This time it didn’t seem quite so difficult and I made it down without any mishaps. I must be getting better.

Still, I was totally knackered by the time we got home, so I stuffed my face with tea cakes and biscuits – oh dear 😳
