Sunday dawned fine and frosty so a quick phone call to Clive found us heading out to the Peak. Clive needed supplies so we called at Hathersage and caught Terry buying a gritstone guide WOW! Terry set off for Burbage while we after the usual “where shall we go debate” ended up on Stanage, always a good choice with all those routes to pick from. The rock was at it’s autumnal best, clean and rough so after a selection of cracks, slabs and overhangs, finger tips tender and shoulders aching we called it a day.

Wow, climbers left and right – but wait, their ropes are heading towards a single point, are they being belayed by the same person?

Maybe the time of year to head south for a w/e and savour the “pleasures” of grit
Yeah, I should have known that if I tried to sneak east of ‘western grit’ , even for a brief foray, I’d be caught. But what a magnificent day it was, both weather and climbing wise. By mid afternoon, we adjourned from the ‘slithery’ rock of Burbage to explore Bamford, where the rock is a little rougher. Nothing difficult on either, but my first foray on to eastern grit for years and years!! Hopefully blog to follow

Off to the boat on thursday for a long weekend.
