This Black Widow Spider was probably born early 2007 and certainly died 29 November 2007. He lived on the wall at Checo’s bar, El Potrero Chico and died under the owner’s foot, probably due to crush injury.
Nice arachnid, Terry!
Terry – how do you know it wasn’t “she” ?
Are you sure he/she didn’t die after biting one of you climber dudes (or CDs as they are “officially” called in the Red Rocks visitor centre)?
Well, I suppose the description ‘Black Widow’ would imply that the spider was in fact female
She may well have bitten people but the immediate cause of death was certainly under the owner’s foot, as witnessed by the horrible scrunching sound
