After a great day yesterday in the North Western Fells, I wanted to visit Sale Fell and Ling Fell.
It was another lovely day and both these fells make for a nice ‘walk’. Both situated close to roads which allow for an easy ascent. They are the sort of place you’d take you mum to for a bumble. However they give great views back to Skiddaw.
First up was Sale Fell, a nice spot, so nice I didn’t want to leave. Lots of short grass, no mud, few rocks and great views. It would be a nice place for a bivvy out.
I popped back to the car to drive around for the ascent of Ling Fell via the Copse Road. Another nice spot.
Not content with these two, I headed home but decided to check the map for another Wainwright with easy access. I found one – High Rigg.
High Rigg is the lump of rock between the A591 from Keswick to Ambleside and the B5322 St John’s in the Vale. Parking by the small church a short walk leads to the summit giving views all around to Blencathra, Skiddaw, Helvellyn and beyond.

Lets hope we have this type of weather this summer I’m due to go to the lakes in 2 weeks time. Would love to get some photos with blue sky in them.
