Beating the Budget

The chancellor having increased the cost of everything again, it is time to make some progress with the effort to become more self-sufficient (not particularly because of a desire to be “greener”, just economics). So, Tish was handed a spade and fork and helped me to dig the vege beds, which are quite impressive, not to say daunting, in size. We also transplanted some daffs from an adjacent bit of wasteland where no-one could see them – instant results, hurrah.

Meanwhile Ian put in a lot of time and hard work glazing the greenhouse – it involved a lot of cutting glass to replace broken panes, it wasn’t just a question of slotting in the existing ones. In the end he even made the door work in spite of parts being lacking; good effort!

Ian would have liked to have Felicity Kendal help him emulate The Good Life,
but Tish made an acceptable second

We didn’t stop work until just before dark (Tish was allowed to leave earlier), doing all kinds of garden jobs – apparently the novelty has not yet worn off!! (It will, it will!). Now we just have to get some seeds and plants to plant….

  1. Woollen socks?? I don’t get that one. Is it something to Ms Kendal?
Anyway – don’t be distracted by the blue sky in the background. We could have gone climbing, but it did rain a bit as well – honest.
I went home and dug the potato patch.
