We awoke to the accurately forecast rain on Sunday. Any worthwhile climbing in the hills was definitely off the agenda. But we suspected it would be dry either on Anglesey or perhaps back towards Llangollen. Pothole Quarry near Corwen won the vote, being on the way home…
On the way over we doubted our wisdom, driving through heavy rain showers all the way to Ruthin. But in the end we were right – sunny, warm and – crucially – dry weather greeted us!

There was no cake consumed, but there was a very welcome pot of tea and posh biscuits
at the Druid’s Inn just 200m from the car park (which itself was only a level 10 minutes from the crag). Perfect!

Pothole quarry
the most disgusting, polished little place on earth
Now that’s a bit mean Terry! Yes it is polished, but it isn’t disgusting – I think it’s a nice setting with good climbing – albeit a bit harder because of the polish!
I like it there!
Here I am somewhere on Pothole Quarry too…
Hey Terry, you and Laetitia might almost be on, or near, the same route – the field behind doesn’t look to have changed hardly at all! And the sheep haven’t moved a muscle!
Just a few less of them! Must be that you were there before foot and mouth struck!
Well, me and Tish are never too far in front or behind
