A Weekend at Ynys

This weekend we joined the joint CC/Wayfarer’s meet at Ynys. The forecast wasn’t great, but as we all the know, the forecast can be very wrong.

Saturday turned out to be fantastic. While Pete worked on guidebook matters, Paul and I joined Terry and John and three guys from the Wayfarer’s at Holyhead Mountain. The sky was blue and the rock shone white. We could almost have been in Spain.

I was pleased with Cursing and Tension, and Paul was pleased with Breaking the Barrier.

The weather turned cold at just about the time we started to think of tea and cakes, so we headed back to the hut. We entertained the troops with an Australian photo-fest, drank plenty of wine, and some stayed up ’til 2am chatting the night away!

It was stormy weather during the night and I was glad I wasn’t in a tent.

This morning started wet and windy, but blue skies soon re-appeared. However, with the cold wind we decided it wasn’t a day for rock. Instead we did the usual wander around gear shops, drank coffee, ate cake and came home early.
