As the snow was still deep on the rough tracks around Kirkby Stephen, I decided to take a short skiing trip out on my newly acquired cross country skis. Unfortunately I had to borrow an old pair of poles and boots…..

On the way to the Nine Standards
But after 20 minutes the sole fell off one of the boots.

The offending culprit
There was nothing to do but take off my skis and walk back to the car
But I still got out and enjoyed the fells.

Dukerdale
The road up to the fell did eventually get ploughed and thank goodness it did.

You mad bugger! You’ll be moving to Norway next…
How did you get the picture; tripod? Or was there someone else equally mad there?
Nobody mad enough to join me
, thus the camera was perched on the wall and I skied backwards.
You’ll also note that I’m out of focus (no wise cracks please) because the camera focused on the wall.
….. and no Pippa? She obviously thought the planks of wood were going just a bit too far.
I think a cross country ski trip with Dave and Fiona should be on the agenda.
Pippa was there, but trying to balance a camera on a drystone wall, set the self timer and ski backwards was taxing enough
. Trying to get Pippa in shot would have been too much and something would have fallen over (probably me).
