I entered Richard and I for the Edale Skyline race – it was really easy, I just put a cheque in an envelope and sent it off …. however as usual it is much easier to enter these races than to actually participate in them.

The Edale Skyline is mental. 21 miles, 4500 feet!

From Edale the route goes up Ringing Rodger, then along the edge of Kinder and down into the valley at the far end of the Edale Valley. It then runs up to Win Hill before losing all the height just gained descending to a road. Then back up onto the Mam Tor ridge. The race then runs along to Mam Tor and down to Mam Nick – those people not reaching Mam Nick before 2.5 hours are turned round to go home! – thankfully we both made it in time. Then it’s on to Rushup Edge, and then along to Brown Knoll and round the edge of Kinder again all the way back to Ringing Rodger! A long way. I apologise if this route is inaccurate; a) I’ve ran 21 miles today and b) my legs ache too much to get up and look at the map!

A fantastic race the weather was amazing and walkers everywhere spurred us on. The bogs on the other hand were not so nice – not what you want under your feet when you’re running that far!
