With the fantastic freezing conditions in the Lakes currently, as well as allowing for some surprising Lakeland skiing, there was also an opportunity for a super fast solo ascent of Central Gully on Great End… It was late by time I got to the base of the climb after walking (running) in from Seathwaite, and with darkness fast approaching I set about the route quickly, very quickly, I was on the summit in 30 minutes! Not exactly “Ueli Steck” speed, but just quick enough to get me to the top in the last of the daylight before rushing back to the car in the dark.

A moody picture, at the end of the long approach path, of Great End in it's early season winter garb.

Sitting down on the summit of Great End for a quick drink and slice of last night's left over pizza. :yum:
