I’ve been crazily busy the past few weeks, so I had intended having a lazyish day and catching up on everything as well as getting ready for my holiday, but on Friday driving to work in the morning I caught a glimpse of the mountains in the distance dusted with snow.
The weather forecast wasn’t great but I decided to go ahead with my planned trip to the Lakes with the most hardy of my friends, the others having bailed out.
I got invited on another climbing trip to the Dolomites by my friends Neil and Elizabeth and I can never resist being invited on climbing trips, especially when the lure of Italian food, mountains and the great company of Neil, Elizabeth and Friends is involved, and I even repaid the favour, by tempting my friend …
I headed off to Reiff, just North of Ullapool, at the weekend to go climbing with the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club.
I was lucky enough to have last Wednesday off work so I decided to head out and make the most of the sunshine. Who do you call when you need a mid week partner – a lazy PHD student is usually a good bet!
The weather forecast for Sunday was looking fantastic for a day out in the hills, so despite my slightly weak ankle it was just too much temptation to get out for a run.

My friends Amy and Will headed up to join me in Scotland this weekend with the intention of going winter climbing, with the rare combination of good conditions and a reasonable weather forecast we hoped to tick a **** classic route.
