The build is continuing and some of the module interiors are really taking shape, with rooms, stairs and kitchens all going in...
After the difficulties of pushing through the sea ice, we finally made it to the Antarctic continent on Christmas Day...
The last week has been a slow journey of winding our way through the sea ice of the Weddell Sea, occasionally getting stuck for between 15 minutes and 8 hours at a time.
For the last few days we've been trying to find a route through the sea ice toward our destination...
So we've nearly reached 60° South and I was woken up At 6am with the first bangs and crashes as we found the edge of the sea-ice...
Today we had our fist iceberg sighting at 49 degrees south (which I'm told is quite a way north). We have to get to 75 degrees south, so there's quite a way to go yet...
So who would have thought that the long journey to Halley base would come to a grinding halt outside Carlisle due to frozen points?
A matter of weeks before heading south......
