After a good day at Wilton Quarry and with the glorious summer weather we decided on an impromptu BBQ. While we were finishing eating our tasty pork and apple sausages we heard some lively music (and obviously loud as it was a way off) coming from the centre of the village. To celebrate Dave’s birthday he wanted to go down Gaping Ghyll’s main shaft – the longest daylight pot hole in the UK. The new Climbers Club hut in Grange, Borrowdale is opening next weekend on 12th July. But it isn't quite ready yet, so a call (via e-mail) to muster was sent out for help this weekend to knock the place into shape...
