Back to old habits in The Forest of Dean

We spent Saturday running around the Forest of Dean. I think we probably travelled about 18 miles in total, which isn’t a bad effort after our first proper run last weekend.

In brief, we ran along the River Wye to Monmouth, then through Wyesham, across the fields and forest to Staunton, then more forest and over to English Bicknor, then we dropped down to the river and ran southwards to the pub in Symonds Yat where we ate ice cream (despite putting food in the car for the run, I completely forgot to put it in the running bag, so we were starving!), before running to Bracelands and then up the hill back to the car.

We had a quick look into King Arthur’s Cave…

And crossed the England-Wales border a number of times.

After running, we stayed at Whitewalls in preparation for caving on Sunday … tbc
