Misty + Wet Via Ferrata Misery

On the last day of our holiday we teamed up with our mates again and headed out to sample some of the adventures they had planned for the long weekend. Ticking off some of the French via ferrata near Chamonix. As it turned out ‘near’ wasn’t the right term, it was over two hours drive from Chamonix and by the time we arrived it was raining. Again! Rain was a familiar theme for us by now, so we hardly paused before continuing on with the planned route. The reality was not quite that simple. We failed to locate the start of the route in the mist. We got cold. One of our team got scared in the long dark World War II tunnel. We found the ground covered in mud (not rock) and silly slippy. Yes, we retreated back to the car and a hot chocolate in the café!
