• Our massive track from West to East of the complete Three Valleys resort!

  • Day 2 saw the intensity of the snow fall ramp up! A cold day with about 60cm of powder to play in!

  • Our first day was windy, cold (very cold), and snowy! The neon signs at the lift stations were flashing "High winds, stay in your own valley!" - by the afternoon all the link lifts between the valleys had shut. Of course we were in Meribel - a long trek along forest tracks ensued...

  • We made quite a few cafe stops to get away from the weather...

  • With continuing sunshine but now firm snow we had another massive day skiing over 48km from La Tania all the way to the highest lift served point of the Three Valleys ski area.

  • On day 3 we finally saw the sunshine. And with deep power everywhere we had a massive day finding and skiing as many fresh tracks as we could!

  • On our penultimate day we finally got the whole gang out skiing at the same time! We enjoyed almost all of the Courchevel area and a lot of its cafes!

  • We messed about a bit too! Here Laetitia gets "Back to the Wild"

  • A skyline of famous alpine peaks!

  • On our final day we put in a big effort to ski from La Tania all the way to the most Western point of the Three Valleys, back to the most Eastern point, and home again - 90.7km of ground covered. Here Laetitia is at the Summit of the Three Valleys with the Massif des Ecrins in the distance.

Three Valleys Skiing

Joining Dave, Dean, and Jon in the Three Valleys for a week of skiing was always going to involve a lot of fast skiing action! With us all, eventually as Jon resisted the allure of the tech, logging our days out with various GPS enabled Apps on our phones we were able to capture an array of stats from top speeds to distances (kilometres) travelled. Naturally the speed demon Jon officially took the crown for fastest logged run at, I think, just over 92km/h!

Our first few days were all about the powder, and our last were all about the sun, speed, and distance.

Unfortunately the first two days we were without Jon as he had a sickness bug. Then the next day or so we were without Dean as he had a cold. Finally on the last days we had a wonderful time in the sunshine with the whole gang…

For those interested in the tech, I used the excellent Ski Tracks App to gather data like this…

And the great App used to name all those peaks in the Massif des Ecrins is Peak Finder .

And the Crystal tracking App was good too showing our tracks overlaid on the Three Valleys piste map…

Our massive track from West to East of the complete Three Valleys resort!
