Ennerdale basked in autumnal sun with snow on the tops
I decided to get up early and make for the far side of the Lake District. That way I could maximise my day and prepare for a trip to France on Sunday.
I’d got a nice circuit planned and the forecast was excellent.
I parked on the minor road heading south from Ennerdale Bridge and followed a bridleway westwards to Grike and Crag Fell.

And then it was a short descent through the forest and out and up onto Whoap (not a Wainwright), before a gentle climb onto Lank Rigg.

A superb day, with relatively dry ground conditions considering the previous week’s rain.
