This weeks tromp was from Mungrisdale… a round of Souther Fell and Bowscale Fell. The clouds were heavy and soon emptied themselves onto us as we made the steep climb up Souther Fell. There was a cold brisk breeze making it feel more February than July. Is this the end of summer??
Andy and Anna head round Bannerdale Crags (Sharp Edge in the distance)
From the col between Bannerdale crags and blencathra an easy ascent can be made of Bowscale fell. The showers came and went but the wind got worse. We were glad to have it at our backs

We were soon on the way down after passing a very pointy cairn…
A very steep descent met with disaster at the bottom: the pub was closed. It was only 10.04. What was going on??
All that effort; no reward. Bugger. I hate it when that happens

Good to see Andy’s shorts still come out in “summer” whatever the weather
Write to your MP Ian, it’s no good, pubs can’t be closing at 10.04. If you let this incident go with reprisals, who knows what might happen next…
How come you’re swanning about on week days Ian? is this the painters week?
We started at 6.30pm… a whole (nearly)adventure in the evening!!
Although I had thought I was coming down with swine flu,and might wangle a few free days, but it was something completely different
Something completely different? What was it; avian flu instead?
Did you see the phantom army on Souther Fell? If not, perhaps it’s a mid-summer’s eve event

Anyway, it’s nice to see you getting out mid week
