Pfalz rock – really climbing

Finally for the first time this year I managed to actually climb again in the Pfalz after Mina injured her knee and biking priorities – as I am still planning my black-forrest bike crossing ;). Anyway we did one of the most enjoyable climbs I have done so far in the Pfalz at the Klosterfels (monestary rock) close to the Bärenbrunner Hof. Great holds all the way through, some scary foot smir-offs and awsome views and feelings on the rock face. Finally the summer seems to have arrived as well and nothing can stop me climbing again next wednesday as long as Ingo and his bus will show up ;).

Don’t forget your hammock!

Cheers from Germany’s best trad climbing spot!

  1. Now that looks great! Can’t wait to have a go! What grade is it? We have been checking out the guidebook you left us almost every night – we are getting really excited about our visit… 😀

  2. The grade of the great climb is 6+ UIIA. It has about 5 bolts in 42meters, rest needs gear protection. We have been to the Pfalz 3 times now within 1 week and can’t wait to take you out. Mina twisted her knee about 9 weeks ago by trying the egypt way and hurt her ligament badly – she had to walk arround with this funny thing making her look like TerMINAtor ;). She started climbing last week again so should be fit when you get here.

  3. It looks like “Klosterwand” a 3* 6+. (9 runners) Page350 in your book Pete) :geek: Is that a UIAA grade?? what does that make it in English? (or should I say French 😆 ) Blimey , all these grade differences are sooooooooo confusing! :alien: :alien:
