Thirlspot to Ambleside

I had the day to myself so I decided to take the bus the Thirlspot and walk back to Ambleside via Helvellyn.

It was a glorious day, but you never know in this country, so I packed my waterproofs. The rain was forecasted for late afternoon, but it could come in early. It didn’t… It was amazingly hot and I was very grateful for the breeze on top to cool down my very red face.

It wasn’t too busy on route, and as I always find when I’m walking on my own, lots of people stop for a chat. The views, of course were fantastic.

I stopped at Grisedale tarn for some lunch before the steep hike up Fairfield.

And then at the top of Fairfield I stopped for a second lunch to take in the views.

By the time I’d made it to Sweden Bridge, I was ready for a long rest, so I sat on a boulder and cooled my very hot feet.

It was a great day out.
