Cheeky Weekend Skiing

Laetitia and I are just back from managing to grab a cheeky weekend away to Chamonix for a little bit of skiing. We timed it just right with the arrival of some fresh snow…

As we’d booked a hire car we decided to take full benefit of the extra mobility and get out of Chamonix, which to be totally honest we’re a bit tired of skiing nowadays anyhow. We chose Flaine on Saturday and had an amazing day blessed with a little fresh snow from the day before, clear blue skies, and a beautiful inversion with clouds filling the valleys below us making all the high alpine mountain tops look like weird snowy islands in an endless white sea of clouds.

Monday’s conditions in Megêve couldn’t have been more different – trees laden with incredible weight of fresh snow…

And on Monday we chose to ski in Megêve. Again to get out of the Chamonix valley. But also to allow us to call through the bricolage in Sallanches to buy a new lock for our front door. 😉

There must have been well over a 60cm of fresh snow on Sunday through in to Monday. So the skiing was awesome and certainly gave us ample opportunity to brush up on our powder technique. Plus coping with some fairly chunky carved up sections to side of the pistes that always seem to be destined to catch you out and trip you up into a snowy face plant!
