052013_1003_Drnstein3.jpgAfter more than six months break - and a bit of back and waist problems in the meantime - I finally managed to get out on rock again! Could I have picked a more scenic location for the big occasion than Dürnstein in Niederösterreich? Well, probably yes, but certainly not as close to Budapest! Dürnstein is ca. 80 kms from Vienna, it's an old little village lying at the Danube, with impressive rock towers and a castle ruin which was built around the rocks.

Lord's Seat looking back in the direction of Grange.Tuesday night is Walk Night at BAE Systems. Col Sear at work organises a walk every week which is usually very well attended not only by the locals, but also the many visiting consultants who get a chance to visit the glorious Lake District.

The wall-to-wall sunshine promised by the weather forecasters just wasn’t to be seen. We procrastinated for a couple of hours knowing that early starts are unwise for rock climbing at this time of year, thus allowing the rock to warm up.
